Giving Opportunities

For over 40 years, the Clinical Center for the Study of Development and Learning (CDL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the State's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, has been devoted to one goal: making sure that children and adults with developmental disabilities, and the families and professionals who care for them, are receiving the best possible services and training available.

Despite the continued support of the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health, federal funding has remained level for the past 20 years from these sources due to serial budget cuts. At the same rate, State dollars supporting initiatives in the areas of early childhood, developmental disabilities, and family issues have been significantly reduced.

Despite governmental funding setbacks, the CDL continues to fight to maintain the same level of excellence on which it has always based its outstanding reputation. Without your help, however, the CDL's ability to continue to provide the same high-quality, vital services and supports to all people with developmental disabilities is dangerously compromised.

Therefore, for the first time in over 40 years, we are turning to friends like you-informed, concerned people who care about the children and adults in their lives who are challenged with developmental disabilities-to make sure that the CDL can continue to provide the excellent training and service on which our clients, their families, and the community have come to depend.

It's so easy to give. Simply print a contribution form, complete it, and mail it in with your check or credit card number to Ms. Janice Jarrell, Center for Development and Learning, Meadowmont Exchange East, 1450 Raleigh Road, Suite 100, Chapel Hill, NC 27517. You can also call to pledge your commitment — phone (919) 966-5171.

Together, we will be able to continue to make a difference to children and adults with developmental disabilities.
